About this package

Counting practice for children, all of it in pictures. Each question shows a picture — three apples, seven butterflies, ten stars — and asks how many there are, or what the number would be with one more or one fewer. The answers are numerals on purpose: choosing between 3 and 4 IS the skill. The papers are short, a wrong answer costs nothing, and the camera stays off throughout.

This is the free pack, and it is the one to start with. The papers are short, the questions are pictures rather than paragraphs, and there is no penalty for a wrong answer, so a child can try, get it wrong, and try again without losing anything.

Every test here is a fixed set — every child who opens it meets the same puzzles — so if your child sits one this week and the same one next month you can see for yourself what has changed. The paid packs work the other way round: they draw a fresh set of pictures every time, so the same test can be repeated for months without repeating a puzzle.

The camera stays off for every test in the series, nothing is recorded, and a child can stop and come back to a paper later.

The tests run in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer. An attempt you start on one device can be resumed on another, and nothing needs installing.

Subjects and topics covered

Every test in this package draws from these subjects in the proportions shown. The number beside a topic is how many questions the bank holds on it.

How it works

  1. Create a free account, or sign in to the one you already have.
  2. Open Exam Packages, find this package and add it — there is nothing to pay.
  3. Start any test in it from Exams For You, on a phone or a computer.
  4. Submit, read your score and the answer sheet, and use the subject-wise breakdown to choose what to study next.

Who this package is for

Four- and five-year-olds who can count a few things out loud and are starting to match that to a written number, and any parent who wants to see what the papers are like before paying for anything. The numbers here are small — three, four, five — and the things to count are spread out, so they can be counted by pointing.

Study notes that go with this

Written by the same examiner, for the same exam. Not included in this package.

Common questions

Does this cost anything?

No. There is no card to enter and nothing expires. Create a free account, add the pack, and the tests appear on the dashboard.

Is the camera on during these tests?

No. Every test in this series has the camera off and records nothing at all. There is no time pressure beyond a generous timer, and a child can leave a paper and come back to it.

What is different in the paid packs?

These free papers are fixed sets, which is what makes them useful for comparing one attempt with another. The paid packs draw a new set of counting questions from the full bank every time a child opens them, so the same test stays fresh for months.

How long do I keep access to this package?

Access does not expire. Once the package is on your account the tests stay there, and you can attempt them whenever you like while attempts remain on each one.

Do I see the correct answers after a test?

Yes. Each attempt ends with your score straight away and, on the packages that include it, the full answer sheet — the correct option for every question alongside what you chose, plus a subject-wise breakdown of your marks.

Can I take these tests on a phone?

Yes. The test screen is built for a phone as well as a computer, and an attempt you start on one device can be resumed on another.

Will this replace my Counting Fun for Kids study material?

No, and it is not meant to. This is practice and diagnosis: it tells you what you can do under time and which topics are losing you marks, so the reading you do afterwards is aimed at something specific.

What do I need to start?

A free account and a browser. Create the account, add this package from Exam Packages, and the tests appear on your dashboard immediately.
